Nothing screams more fun than Sunway Lagoon and its multi-park possibilities of thrills, chills, laughs and a whole lot of excitement.

That’s right folks, starting tomorrow (7 October), Malaysia’s iconic theme park will be reopening its gates to welcome you back to over 90 attractions in their Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park and Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon.

The long-awaited announcement comes after news that Klang Valley is now in Phase 3 of Malaysia’s National Recovery Plan.

Fully Vaccinated Entry Only

Although 90% of Sunway Lagoon’s attractions are out in the open air, the park will only entertain the fully vaccinated to raise the safety bar of their guests and staff.

Children 17 years old and below do not need to be vaccinated as long as they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult.

Make sure to have your digital vaccination certificate ready and to show your risk status.

There are exemptions however to those with medical conditions or pregnant mothers under 14 weeks or above 33 weeks of gestation.

Proof of their medical condition exempting them from the vaccine will be needed and pregnant mothers will need to provide their pink book, doctor’s appointment card or a medical letter as proof.

‘Play and Stay’ With Confidence

Strict standard operating procedures (SOP) will be in place with face masks mandatory except when dining and while in the water parks and water slides.

In a statement by Calvin Ho, Executive Director of Sunway Theme Parks, to add to their already strict standards, other enhancements have also been made such as:

  • Frequent sanitation at high touchpoints
  • Limiting capacity at certain rides and attractions
  • Public huts that used to cater to large groups have now been converted into private cabanas for families seeking privacy
  • Cap the park’s capacity to 50%

For families who have been anticipating the park’s opening since its closure at the start of the pandemic – good news because Camp Out! at Sunway Lagoon lets you extend your stay at the park till the next day.

If camping isn’t your thing, fret not because there are staycation packages in place too with Sunway Hotels like Sunway Pyramid Hotel and Sunway Clio Hotel.
