Some intrepid online shoppers started a bidding war over an expensive pair of limited-edition shoes during a live press conference by the Johor police.

A pair of Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneakers managed to steal the limelight during a live press conference on Facebook featuring Johor Police Chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay and a haul of cash and luxury items worth RM4.9 million, confiscated from a local investment fraud syndicate.

How much do you think these shoes are worth? They’re 5,000 USD (RM20,392).

Said Ayob Khan during the live Facebook press conference on 26 November 2020.

With the Chief showing off the goods, social media users began crowding the comment section in hopes to “lock” or book the shoes for purchase, besides admiring its craftsmanship and lavish price tag.

The OG Dior sneakers are part of an exclusive line of clothing made with the partnership between Nike and Dior – inspired by the style of the OG himself, Michael Jordan – The shoes are said to be highly praised by “hypebeasts” or those who enjoy fashion, and can cost up to RM80,000 on the open market.

As comments started piling up, Ayob Khan himself later took to responding that the sneakers and other items were obviously not for sale as they were evidence in a criminal investigation.
