People Are Writing Steamy Romance Novels About The Coronavirus

The global Covid-19 pandemic has locked everyone at home, drastically reducing the chances of romantic meet-cutes and dates. For the romantic-at-heart, there are always steamy romance novels to delve in.
Romance novels, for the most part, are often written according to trends, so are we really all that surprised that there are now novels about falling in love with the coronavirus?

Books with titles like “Kissing the Coronavirus” and “Courting Coronavirus” are being published, complete with the usual steamy cover image of a hapless girl being held by a muscular man… who is green.
Kissing the Coronavirus‘ blurb states that it “is a steamy tale about forbidden love and dark desires come to life”. The main character is a scientist who ends up falling in love with the coronavirus while trying to find a cure for it.
This is also M. J. Edwards’ debut book, which she published in an attempt to pay the bills after losing her job in the pandemic. The ebook on Kindle is available for just $0.99 (about RM4.50, which is extremely cheap as far as books are concerned).

Another such book, Courting the Coronavirus, has a similar scope, except this one includes time travel back to the nineteenth century. Whether or not author Lee Taylor wrote it to pay bills still remain to be seen, but the ebook is also priced at just $0.99.
With the number of Covid-19 cases rising fast in Malaysia again, many people are opting to stay at home. Perhaps it’s time to curl up and have an at-home date with the these stories about romancing the virus instead?
