While most of the residents and businesses in the Klang Valley were struggling with coping under the unscheduled water cuts, those in the upper-class society seems to have acted with tone-deaf carelessness.

In the heat of the water cut in Klang Valley yesterday, social media users were treated to screenshots allegedly posted by the Selangor Menteri Besar’s wife, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhammad, on her Instagram account.

The pictures were of an Air Selangor water tanker parked in front of her house with a hose snaking up her driveway.

Meanwhile, on her Instagram stories, Masdiana apparently shared a picture of her family enjoying the day swimming in their own pool.

The image was captioned: When there is no water.

Understandably, the rest of Klang Valley was upset. Here we were, not able to brush our teeth, shower, or comfortably use the toilet. Some even did not have enough water for their family members to drink, and had to carry heavy buckets of water into their houses.

Yet, Masdiana and her family had a water tanker come directly to their house, and enough water to fill their swimming pool.

TRP reached out to Masdiana for a comment. She responded with clarification, apology, and promise to help other residents who have yet to receive water supply.

As a mother, I just wanted to express my gratitude to the Air Selangor frontline staff who have been working hard for the past few days. It was not my intention to brag. As such, I apologise if such actions have created any misinterpretations and offended anybody.
