In an effort to help their school cope with new standard operating procedures (SOP) amid the Covid-19 pandemic, three young girls from a school in Pasir Gudang have invented an app.

Nurul Alisa, Zulshafila, and Nursyahirah developed the brilliant Amigos School System app to help their teachers track the temperatures of their fellow students.

How the app works it by first generating printable QR codes for each individual students which can then be worn by them.

The same app then scans the QR codes, allowing teachers to key in temperatures taken using one of those infrared thermometers.

The three female students are a part of Teach For Malaysia’s i’M-SET initiative, a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program which was coincidentally birthed in Pasir Gudang itself.

Teach For Malaysia is an independent NGO whose mission is to give all children in Malaysia the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

Their i’M-SET program aims to empower and expose students to STEM fields by teaching students programming and design thinking skills to solve problems through designing products.

We’ve contacted Teach For Malaysia for more information and are still waiting for a reply.
