7 fun October events (that isn’t Oktoberfest)

Thankfully, the weather recently has been relatively cool after a month of heat and haze.

If you’ve been itching for a fun event to visit after being cooped up at home for a month, we’ve picked some of the best October events for you to explore!

1. Kabut in the Park 4.0

Basically, this is a yard sale on the beautiful grounds of KLPAC, Sentul.

If you’re practicing zero waste living or circular economy, this is a great place to go to pick up some pre-loved goods from almost 45 different vendors.

It’s also kid-friendly and pet-friendly, so let the little ones frolic and enjoy the greenery!

Ps. Dress up in a Halloween costume to get special deals!

2. Art Expo Malaysia 2019

Get artsy and take a deep dive into the art world! This year features exciting art collection by 60 reputable art galleries from 15 different countries!

There will be over 1,500 unique artworks and you can get a chance to mingle with fellow art-lovers and artists.

Southeast Asian art plays a huge role at the expo, as they highlight gems such as the South-East Asia Art Lab, South-East Asia Art Now, South-East Asia ‘The Artist’ Room, Art Town, the Japan Pavilion, and Tribute to Living Legend Artist.

3. Starlight Carnival

Journey up to the top of Genting Highlands for some carnival fun!

You can snuggle with a loved one and watch movies under the stars at the large outdoor cinema by the lake. Or experience street dining like never before with fantastic food trucks. Or dance to live band performances playing your favourite nostalgia hits!

4. In Memory of Paul Walker Car Show

Here’s a special something for fans of The Fast and the Furious franchise: a car show in memory of Paul Walker.

Paul Walker has been an inspiration for many fans, particularly in his social activism. In the same spirit, all merchandise profits will go to the Reach Out Worldwide charity.

Special guests Cody Walker, Zizan Razak, and Hairul Azreen will be there as well to pay their respects to Paul Walker and enjoy the many cars that will be on display.

5. Southville City Collectors Big Bite

Goodies and foodies: that’s what you can expect at this food truck and vintage market!

Enjoy the whole day browsing over 100 booths with selections from pop culture to antiques, jiving to live music from local bands, and chomping down delicious comfort food from over 40 food trucks.

6. Asia Comic Con

You thought only cool stuff happened overseas? Well, they’ve brought it to Malaysia as well.

Fulfill your geekiest dreams at Asia Comic Con, which will feature international guests and artists like Jason Paige, Mika Kobayashi, KAOS, Ario, and more!

Cosplayers in costume can also register for the event to get free entry into ACC.

7. TAPAUfest

For all things truly Malaysian, hop into the indie culture and community festival for the people.
