Siput sedut’s escape attempt from cooking pot drives Twitterjaya up the wall
Well, it’s not every day that your food tries to run away from you.
Apparently, after mindlessly forgetting to close the lid on a fresh bounty of sea snails, one Iron Chef soon discovered that these slimy little critters weren’t planning on becoming delicious anytime soon.

Though they might look disgustingly unappetizing to some, snails have been a part of our diet for as long as humans have been, well… human.
Cultures from all over the world have partaken in this cheap, nutritious source of protein with many attributing its consumption to positive health benefits.
Siput sedut or more commonly known to smart boys as Cerithidea obtusa, is a species of marine snails common in the muddy coastal areas of Southeast Asia.
These tiny molluscs are known to be advent climbers where they can crawl up to a height about 7 metres, reaching the top of trees or stone clifts before jumping back into the muddy shores from which they call home.
These snails have been a staple local delicacy used in delicious dishes such as sambal, lemak cili api, curries, barbequed, and sometimes even eaten raw!
