On the morning of 13 January, a panel from a building under construction fell on a parked car in Jalan Ampang.

The impact dented the roof and side of the car. Luckily, the driver was away at the time in a convenience store nearby so they were safe and unhurt.

In a statement, the Construction Industry and Development Board (CIDB) said it issued the contractor a stop work order.

CIDB explained that an aluminium formwork fell on the car around 9am while work was being conducted to open the aluminium panels on the 55th floor.

Dang Wangi police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the incident happened near 8.45am after a staging plate fell from the 56th floor.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the occupational safety and health department (DOSH) said construction workers had been removing formwork, a mould in which concrete is poured in, when the incident occurred.

DOSH federal territories director Zamzurin Maarof said statements would be recorded from the workers and the car’s driver today.

Worries from road users

This incident worried many road users again because accidents from construction work had happened to unsuspecting road users before.

Sometimes, the accident ends in the death of the driver and their passengers or pedestrians.

Previously, a concrete slab and a crane fell from the SUKE highway and killed two people.

In another incident, a concrete slab and a tower crane from the SUKE highway fell on two cars. One of the drivers escaped unhurt while the other sustained some light injuries.
