The recent announcement by Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd yesterday (24 June) has brought much joy to Astro subscribers after it announced on their site that customers will soon be able to enjoy seamless access to Netflix through their connected Ultra Boxes, first at launch, and on connected Ulti Boxes in the coming months.

Before getting too excited and dropping everything to check if it’s available in your box now, note that no launch date has been announced and you will also have to ‘register your interest’ first.

But I already have Netflix

Congrats! So do I!

According to Astro’s statement, the Astro and Netflix partnership will provide greater convenience by having Netflix with their Astro subscription, providing easy access for payment in a single bill and they say at the ‘best value’ too.

It’s a good thing Netflix doesn’t tie you down to any contracts and if you do subscribe to Astro, you can easily cancel your Netflix membership for a better deal through Astro and for convenience sake too.

How much will it cost then?

Unfortunately, according to their FAQ, they are in the midst of preparing for the launch in the coming months and until then, no information on pricing has been made.

Even a quick Whatsapp message asking their customer service officer was answered with “I’m sorry, I don’t have the information on that. If it’s launched we will inform you later. Thank You”

What is Netflix?

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Netflix is a streaming service that offers a wide variety of award-winning TV programmes, films, anime, documentaries and more!

With a subscription, you can watch as much as you want, whenever you want and without ads!

The catalogue of shows and movies vary greatly depending on your region due to different licensing agreements in each region. So if you have a friend in the US who keeps raving on about the series Lucifer, you may not be able to watch it here in Malaysia.
