No approval has been given to any manufacturer to increase wheat flour prices, says the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP).

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Alexander Nanta Linggi also denies the allegations regarding the increase in the price of subsidized goods from 1 July.

He said that the Ministry has so far only received one application from manufacturers to increase the price of wheat flour without subsidies in 1 kilogram (kg) packs and 25 kg packs.

According to reports from Utusan, there are 11 factories which produce and sell six types of government-subsidized wheat flour.

The Ministry made the statement after a message was circulated on social media and WhatsApp claiming that flour prices will increase starting 1 July .

The message said that the price of a 25kg packet of flour would increase by RM3 per packet while the price of a carton of flour would increase by RM2 per carton.
