The Health Director General today (19 June) tweeted photos of Covid-19 patients being admitted to the UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital for the first time.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah noted that the hospital will only receive patients that are referred to from the Central Region Integrated Covid-19 Control Center which coordinates the movement and placement of Covid-19 patients in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

As of this morning 14 patients with serious symptoms have been admitted to the hospital including one in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The Health Ministry temporarily requisitioned the UKM Specialist Children’s Hospital under section 3 and 4 of the Emergency Ordinance 202.

Plans to admit Covid-19 patience to the hospital began late last month. Dr Noor Hisham in a Facebook post says that the hospital has 243 beds, and 28 ICU beds for adults and had the potential to be used to treat Covid-19 patients.
