Today, 25 May 2021, we broke yet another record for most new Covid-19 cases in a day, with 7,289 cases reported.

The previous record was broken on 20th May 2021, at 6,806 new cases in a day.

Of the 7,289 cases today, Selangor recorded the highest number (2,642), followed by Kuala Lumpur (604), Johor (664), Sarawak (513), and Kelantan (425).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has urged the public to prepare for the worst, as Malaysia is facing an uptick in Covid-19 cases in an exponential fashion.

He notes that the trend of large jumps in cases could trigger a vertical surge.

Our hospitals are already reaching maximum capacity, and the large increase of Covid-19 patients is threatening to overwhelm the whole system.

Dr Noor Hisham urges all those able to work from home to do so and limit going out.

Those who would like to register for Phase 2 of the AZ vaccine can also do so.
