The SOP for MCO 3.0, as well structured as it is, can still be complicated. For example, did you know that it is against the rules to have food served to your car but it is permissible for you to eat your takeaway in your car?

On Friday, an eatery in Miri was penalised for serving food to customers in their cars. The park-and-dine service, colloquially known as ‘drive-in’, is one of the services not allowed during MCO 3.0.

Also, it is totally different from drive-in cinemas.

In the SOP park-and-dine service is considered equal to dining-in. The logic? Servers would serve the food and later retrieve the dishes and cutlery from the customer. This is where the risk of infection comes in.

According to Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Aidi Ismail, customers are permitted to order take-away and eat the food in their car without the drive-in service and advised everyone to stop using park-and-dine service.

Previously, during MCO 1.0 and 2.0, when dining-in was not allowed, park-and-dine was permitted.
