A Covid-19 cluster in Taman Lengkuas in Simpang Ampat, Kedah is believed to have been caused by an interstate tour to Genting Highlands according to a report by Malaysiakini. The ‘Dah Lengkuas’ cluster has recorded a total of 16 positive cases so far.

The trip was said to have happened in April under the tourism bubble when both Kedah and Pahang were under the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

The government ruled on March 9 that tourism between states under the RMCO are permitted. This ruling only allows tourists to travel through tourism agencies registered with the Tourism, Arts, and Culture ministry. This permission was suspended on May 4.

Currently, only one bus is under investigation.

“Until now, we still don’t know the accurate number of positive cases as screenings are still being carried out,” said the Kedah exco in charge of health and local government Dr Mohd Hayati Othman to Harian Metro.
