The government refuses to impose a complete shutdown as it did during MCO 1.0 as it was very damaging towards the livelihood of Malaysians, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that the government lost around RM2.4 billion a day due to the pandemic when all economic activities were halted during the first MCO 1.0 and added that the ones who are most affected are small businesses as Malaysians were unable to move about during that time.
Ismail Sabri also said that it has a debilitating effect on Malaysians who are not living in spacious living conditions.
He said that although it is true that the curve can be flattened with MCO 1.0, but that doesn’t mean that MCO 2.0 or 3.0 can’t do the same thing as the first MCO did.
We open economic sectors with stricts SOPs but we don’t allow social activities. In terms of Health, this is more important which allows us to reduce the infections. Although we didn’t completely flatten the curve, we did see a bit of success.

He said that’s why MCO 3.0 is imposed as it still allow for Malaysians to work and earn a living.
MCO 1.0 saw a lot of people being retrenched as companies are unable to pay wages, it not only affects the company, but also the employees as well.
