Schools in Selangor are set to close beginning 7 May, a little ahead of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri break.

The Selangor Education Department ordered all schools in the state to close for Thursday and Friday (6 May and 7 May) as an effort to reduce movement and travel within the community due to the rise in Covid-19 cases.

The department also said that students in boarding schools will be allowed to return home for Hari Raya break according to schedules provided by the schools – to avoid parents being confused.

Home schooling again

Around 4 million students in primary and secondary schools across the country will stay home after the week-long Hari Raya break following the Education Ministry’s (MOE) decision to keep schools closed as coronavirus outbreaks increased nationwide.

Students and teachers will be expected to continue 2021’s academic sessions via home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) for two weeks before the mid-term break starts at the end of May
