Almost 100% Of Malaysia Getting Heavy Rains & Thunderstorm Today, Warns Malaysian MET Department

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (Met Malaysia) has issued an alert at 3pm today warning of heavy rains and thunderstorms in nearly every part of Malaysia.

This means that the entire state of Selangor, Perak, Pahang, Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya will be hit by the thunderstorm until 6pm today.

However, the thunderstorms are expected to continue until nighttime for the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia especially in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and parts of Pahang.

The only areas spared from the upcoming evening storms are Penang, Perlis and certain districts in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak.

Rainy weather & thunderstorms expected until mid-May

According to RTM, the wet weather is expected to continue until mid-May as Malaysia is currently experiencing the inter-monsoon season. This is between when the northeast monsoon has just ended in March and before the southwest monsoon begins in early June.
