On the night of 22 April 2021, residents of Bukit OUG were horrified to see a massive blaze razing across the top floor of a condominium building.
Clips shared on social media and messaging apps show the bright orange flames spitting out thick, black smoke into the night sky. Suddenly, something gave way and debris turned to embers rained down.
By the end of the night, two units on the 12th floor of Bukit OUG Condo at Jalan 4/155, Bandar Bukit Jalil were completely destroyed.
Bomba explains what happened
Senior Fire and Rescue Operations commander Mohamad Hafidz Yaacob told Bernama that when the firemen arrived at the scene, about 60% to 90% of the two units had been destroyed.
Two victims had also suffered burns on 15% of their body and sent to the hospital for treatment.
Bomba also shared clips of what happened at the scene of the fire, showing the unit almost completely destroyed as piles of ashes were seen along with chunks of the ceiling completely gone.
According to Bomba, the emergency call came in at 9.14pm and fire engines from Jalan Hang Tuah, Sri Petaling and Seputeh fire stations with 45 personnel were immediately dispatched.
The fire was brought under control at 10.10 pm and completely extinguished at 10.31 pm.
The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
