Covid-19 Cases Have Increased By 45% In This Week Alone, Says MOH

Covid-19 infections in Malaysia have risen sharply over the past three weeks with an increase of about 45% in this week alone says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

According to reports from Berita Harian, he said that this week, week 15 of 2021, a total of 13,745 new cases were recorded compared to 9,507 cases in week 14.

This means, he said, the average daily cases have now increased to 1,963 cases, or by 45% and the average for active cases has also increased by 18% to 17,096.

Dr Adham was said the rise in infections has been detected over the past three weeks, starting in the 12th week of this year.

Second phase of Covid-19 Vaccination Programme starts today

It’s reported that the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunization Program, which prioritises the elderly, the disabled and the chronically ill, has started today.

Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry Khairy Jamaluddin said appointment notices for vaccine injections were sent starting April 5, two weeks before the appointment date, through the MySejahtera application, phone calls and short messaging system (SMS).
