The jet flight which was boarded by Religious Affair Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri recently was fully sponsored by the Muslim World League – an NGO which is reportedly supported by the Saudi government.

He replied to a user on Twitter who asked the cost of the flight to get to the Middle East by saying that it was sponsored due to the good relations between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

On a jet plane

The trip raised eyebrows after videos surfaced on social media of Zulkifli and other government officials travelling to the kingdom via a jet plane, which seems like a luxury considering that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin reportedly claimed the government doesn’t have that much money after spending on Covid-19.

He’s there for business

According to reports from Berita Harian, Zulkifli is currently in Saudi Arabia for a work visit to discuss about the Haj and Umrah matters for Muslims in Malaysia.

Astro Awani also reported that Zulkifli will attending multiple meetings with Saudi officials such as the Governor of Medina, Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Zulkifli is scheduled to hold talks with Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da’wah and Saudi Arabia Guidelines Shaikh Abdullatif Abdulaziz Aal Al Shaikh and Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Haj and Umrah Dr Issam bin Saad bin Saeed.
