A majority of those able and working have truly felt the impact of the pandemic. But what of those who are unable, or retired? Care homes, especially those for the elderly, were also hit hard as they rely heavily on public donations which have dwindled since the pandemic began.
Maggi held a campaign in conjunction with CNY this year. The Sajian Dikongsi, Kebahagiaan Dirai campaign aimed to raise funds to bring the joy of festivities and support for welfare needs of senior citizens in care homes throughout the country.
RM118,000 in donations for the elderly
Maggi’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative received an amazing 1.18 million entries through its CNY campaign contest. Donating RM0.10 per contest entry, Maggi raised a whopping RM118,000.
The campaign ran from January to February, with more than 11 elderly care homes across the nation in its sights. The homes will receive upgrades to their living facilities in addition to contributions such as food supplies and household items.

Maggi Business Executive Officer Geetha Balakrishna also mentioned that Maggi is glad and humbled to see so many Malaysians coming together through their campaign to support the elderly, especially during these difficult times.
Among the recipients of Maggi’s aid is Persatuan Rumah Caring Kajang which currently cares for 26 senior citizens, including the disabled and those with mental illnesses. Other homes which benefited from the campaign included those for single parents and orphans.

Maggi also delivered two washing machines, along with other Maggi products to support the needs of 60 senior citizens at Tong Sim Senior Citizen Care Centre, most of whom were left abandoned in hospitals by their own children without next of kin or emergency contacts. Many of the old folks living in this home are immobile and require nursing care.
