Did you know that you can renew your driver’s license online?
Since 16th October 2020 through the MYEG website, you can select a list of services they provide such as vehicle insurance renewal or road tax renewal, but more pertinently, the driving license renewal.
Before you start, make sure you have the right picture
You can either choose to upload a new picture or choose to use the current picture they have on file.
You must ensure that the background of the picture displayed is white. You also need to make sure the picture displayed on the screen is clear and the information displayed on your license is correct.
If the picture displayed has a background other than white, for example blue, MYEG will not print out your license. Instead, a letter of notification from MYEG will be issued to you for you to update your license at the nearest JPJ counter.
How to renew your driving license online
You simply fill up your details on a quick form, listing:
- your Identity Card number,
- your citizenship category,
- a renewal period of up to five years (each year costing RM30 each),
- a phone number,
- e-mail address, and
- collection method
In this case, you can choose ‘delivery’ as a collection method to save yourself the hassle of going out of your way to the JPJ office or the post office – which is the whole point of doing it online.
Then your delivery information is required and you’re almost done! Simply confirm that the image they have is the one you still want to use, and make the payment.
Depending on where you live, delivery charges vary from RM6.00 within the Klang Valley, to RM10.00 in Sabah and Sarawak, or RM8.00 in most peninsular locations. Delivery times also vary from 2 to 5 working days, depending on your location.
And voilà! You now have a new driver’s license!
