Famed for its tranquility, lush green foliage and one of the happiest places in Malaysia, they’re spreading even more joy with a new monthly briyani food distribution programme to the homeless and poor.

This is part of the Taiping Municipal Council’s (MPT) community project that will begin on 26th March, tentatively fixed for 11am at Galeri Perbandaran Taiping.

Why briyani for the homeless and poor?

According to MPT, briyani was chosen not only because it’s delicious (duh) but also because it symbolises the specialness of celebrating Friday.

When we enjoy the deliciousness of nasi briyani on Friday, there are people who do not have the opportunity to enjoy it on deck due to inability even though they often dream of it.

To make this “Projek Beriani Jumaat” a reality, the council also invites the public to join in as they aim to distribute briyani with chicken to at least 50 homeless and poor people on one Friday each month.

This community-to-community program opens up opportunities for you to make a sincere contribution either individually or as a group or through an organization. The “Projek Beriani Jumaat” requires an allocation of RM500 to fund meals for 50 people for each program.

The project is also carried out with the help of the Taiping Welfare Department, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Masyarakat Marhaen and Ecomrade.
