Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin stepped in to clarify that Malaysians only need to register themselves once through the MySejahtera mobile application to schedule their Covid-19 vaccination appointments.

Khairy, who’s in charge of the National Immunization Program (NIP), was met with questions online on how to confirm the status of one’s registration on the app.

Many were confused over the apps user interface (UI) as word spread that unless a separate confirmation notice appears on your screen, your registration had been unsuccessful.

Netizens were also sharing step-by-step instructions on how to make the notification appear, which involves users having to register themselves again and fill out the detail form.

Naturally, we at TRP did the same and received a similar notice indicating that our registrations had been successful on the date of our second try – despite having already registered when the function first became available in February.

UI update

Addressing the issue, Khairy explained that a UI update was being rolled out for the MySejahtera app and told everyone not to register again if they have already done so the first time.

He assured Malaysians who did sign up twice (or in our case several times) that records of their first registrations were already locked in the system.

Be patient and don’t cut queue

Over one million Malaysians have reportedly registered themselves to be inoculated under the NIP with the country already acquiring enough vaccines to jab 108% of our population.

Khairy advised the rakyat to remain calm and await their turn patiently.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba warned that those who are found guilty of jumping the Covid-19 vaccine queue can be fined up to RM50,000 and face jail time of up to six months.
