Klang Valley commuters are sadly familiar with the morning crowd as Malaysians scramble aboard the trains to get to work. But it looks like there is some reprieve as RapidKL has announced a new express rail service for the LRT Kelana Jaya line!

The new Skip-Stop-Express began operating on 25th February 2021 in an effort to ease crowds on selected Kelana Jaya Line stations, namely: Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, and Ampang Park stations.

How does the Skip-Stop-Express LRT train service work?

According to the RapidKL FAQ, the first Skip-Stop-Express Train will depart from Gombak LRT station at 8am.

Trains heading to Ampang Park station will only stop at Wangsa Maju and Setiawangsa LRT stations, skipping five stations in between. However, the trains will resume normally and stop at every station after Ampang Park.

Passengers who accidentally boarded the express train that skips their station will have to disembark at the next designated stop  and board another train on the opposite platform towards their destination.

The Skip-Stop-Express Train service only operates during morning peak hours from Monday to Friday, except for public holidays.
