Melaka

Tun Fatimah Form Six College (KTE) in Durian Daun, Melaka was ordered to close immediately for a week starting today, after a male teacher was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

EXCO in the Chief Minister’s Department (Education, Higher Education, Technical, Vocational, Science and Innovation), Datuk Noor Effandi Ahmad, said the closure until January 28was to enable sanitation work to be carried out at the college.

He said, all Form 6 teachers and students of the college involved who are also in close contact with the teachers have been instructed to undergo quarantine at their respective homes until contacted by the Central Health District (PKD) Melaka Tengah.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry (MOE) are not postponing major examinations, but will arrange separate sessions for Covid-19 positive candidates or those placed under quarantine.

It’s reported that the exams are scheduled to begin in February.

Education Director-General Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim said that the affected candidates are allowed to sit for the exams after they’ve recovered from the illness or have completed their quarantine period.

The quarantine period is 14 days and the examinations are usually held longer than that. So, when they have recovered, the candidate can sit for the other papers which are ongoing and the ministry will arrange different sessions for the missed papers.
