Econsave’s official Twitter account went savage on a couple of TikTokers who apparently disobeyed Covid-19 guidelines while making a viral dance video at one of its outlets.
It seems that the supermarket’s social media team weren’t too pleased by two separate TikTok videos showing a couple of dancers prancing around in their store, without face masks on, which had popped up on the microblogging site.
The first 11-second clip captured a rather impressively choreographed dance number performed by a man and a woman at what appears to be an empty frozen food aisle inside the supermarket. The two were not wearing face masks at the time.

The other 10-second video showed the behind the scenes makings of the amateur dance production with two men, who were wearing masks, sitting behind the camera. The “camera crew” had one person inside a shopping trolley while the other pushed it around as a makeshift camera dolly.

While some netizens admired the duo’s fancy footwork, Econsave stepped in to reprimand the TikTokers for not following standard operating procedure (SOP).
These kids, they’re not wearing masks, did you sanitize your hands?… Did you finish school?

No mask no entry
Malaysians are required by law to abide by Covid-19 SOP which includes the practice of social distancing, sanitizing one’s hands, checking in at public locations with the MySejahtera mobile application as well as having masks on at all times in public areas.
However, the government does provide leeway to not have face masks on in certain situations like when travelling alone in a personal vehicle, doing recreational activities outdoors or when out in non-crowded places.

Covid savagery
Econsave’s Twitter account has been quite the promoter of Covid-19 SOPs and had recently gained a lot of attention after it told another viral TikToker not to visit its stores after they were recorded snacking on ice shavings taken from a supermarket freezer.

The supermarket chain also made public promises to help disadvantage communities during the pandemic.
