Though MP’s Family Is Positive For Covid-19, Wife Says Won’t Get Vaccinated

Padang Rengas MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz’s family have tested positive and are currently undergoing home quarantine, but they have become a subject of much controversy this week.
Aside from Nazri saying the Emergency was due to him, his wife Datin Seri Haflin Saiful also posted a short clip of her quarantine at the Villa Danialla Beach Resort in Bachok, Kelantan, captioned “Best home quarantine ever.”
In the 20-second video, she was seen wearing a pink wristband, stretching on the beach before running into the sea where her four-year-old son and two presumed helpers were playing.
Nazri Aziz tested positive for Covid-19 on 19 January, while his wife, son and her assistant tested positive on 20 January.

The issue has since gone viral with many questioning if she broke the Health Ministry’s (MOH) home quarantine rules.
According to MOH, Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms) Covid-19 patients are required to undergo home quarantine.
But Haflin denied breaking any rules and told MalaysiaNow that the video was taken within her home compound, stating “it was my private beach, my territory in my compound.”
She later stated on Instagram that she is the owner of the resort that was bequeathed to her by her late mother.
She’s also refusing the Covid-19 vaccine
In the comment section of the video, Haflin stated that she is refusing to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
Should an infected person still take the vaccine?
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the answer is yes.
Due to the severe health risks associated with Covid-19 and the fact that re-infection with Covid-19 is possible, a vaccine should be offered to you regardless of whether you already had Covid-19 infection.

Baylor College of Medicine infectious disease expert Dr. Prathit Kulkarni told AP News that it’s impossible to know how long a person might be immune.
Experts still don’t know exactly how long this immunity lasts and the immunity someone gains from having an infection, called natural immunity, varies from person to person.

Some research suggest that the protection could last for several months.
Which is why vaccines are designed to be administered in phases to ensure an optimal immune defence against viruses. Experts say they can even boost a person’s preexisting immunity.
