Self-service laundromats are now allowed to operate, provided there is an employee who monitors and maintains the SOP, said Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said that laundry operators will need to take body temperatures and provide hand sanitizers.
They will be allowed to operate between 6 am-8pm.
He said that the government didn’t allow self-service laundries to operate because these premises usually do not have people to monitor SOPs.
We understand the needs of the people, especially bachelors, who need self-service laundromats, especially during the monsoon season. Therefore, we allow these businesses to operate, but the owner must have staff to monitor.

Ismail Sabri added that if these businesses do not have any personnel to do so, then they will be ordered to cease operations.
