Adorable Otters Spotted Playing In Klang River Near Mid Valley During The Rain [VIDEO]

River otters are a sign of a healthy river ecosystem.

Klang River cuts through the Klang Valley and is usually a disturbing shade of brown. However, the heavy rainfall brought with stronger water currents and surprising guests.

Fresh water otters were spotted playing and frolicking in the river, right next to Mid Valley Megmall. Three otters were seen chasing each other and speeding through the (admittedly still murky) water.

Good News For Our Rivers

However, this is a fantastic sign as it means that the quality of water in the Klang River has been improving, most likely aided by decreased human interference due to the movement control orders (MCO).

The presence of river otters are a sign that the river ecosystem is healthy. That there are more than one and are frolicking in good spirits is even better.

River otters are not the only animals to call Klang River home.

Saltwater crocodiles also prowl the waterways, oftentimes seen slinking around during the rainy seasons. But it’s not all bad, because the crocodiles are an important part of the ecosystem. In some cases, they even save people from committing suicide.
