University Students Expected To Return To Campus In March For In-Person Classes Pending NSC’s Approval

After spending most of the year learning online due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Higher Education Ministry has proposed for university students to return to study on campus by March next year.
According to Berita Harian, Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad said that her ministry will submit an application on the matter to the National Security Council (NSC) for their approval.
It is still at the discussion stage. The ministry proposed March for the start of the semester, but this cannot be confirmed until the NSC agrees

She added that the proposal will be presented to NSC in the near future and an official announcement will be made if it is approved.
Until then, classes set to take place next month will continue online as per the current practice.
Malay Mail reported that Noraini also revealed that her ministry and universities will be reinforcing all related standard operating procedures in preparation for their students’ return.
New SOPs are also being proposed, such as special isolation areas (tempat pengasingan) and hybrid classes to further reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission on campus.
