Negeri Sembilan records the highest number of new infections today (7 December) with 541 cases – or 33.8% – of the 1,600 total Covid-19 cases recorded in Malaysia on December 7.
The state’s Covid-19 numbers surpassed Selangor (426 cases) and Sabah (248 cases).
According to the Health Ministry (MOH), the surge in cases in Negeri Sembilan is due to the increase in cases in the Bakti Cluster which records 500 cases (92.4 %) of the total number of cases in the state.
The Bakti Cluster originated from a prison inmate who tested Covid-19 positive on 22nd November. MOH assures that the cluster is isolated within the prison area.
Malaysia currently records a total of 74,294 Covid-19 cases, of which 11,604 are still active. Two deaths were also recorded in Sabah today, bringing the virus death toll to 384 losses.
