Beginning 3 December, if you use your Maybank Debit Card for transactions, you will receive notifications straight from the app instead via a text message.

Based on the FAQs, if you made transactions made via online, mail or telephone order (MOTO) or use your debit card for the first time, SMS alerts will be sent regardless of the amount.

But for transactions at POS (Point of Sale) terminals, SMS alert will only be sent when the transaction amount exceeds RM500.

To enable this feature, you need to turn on the notification.

The bank also mentioned that the notification feature will be available even if you’re abroad as long as your phone is connected to the internet.

The details that you’ll get in the notification is the amount, location of transaction, date of transaction, time of transaction and Maybank’s contact number and payments made in foreign currency will be indicated in that particular currency.
