PM: RMCO Needs To Be Examined Again – Especially In Several Red Zone States

The Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) needs to be relooked, said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after expressing concerns about the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Negeri Sembilan, Selangor Perak and Johor despite increased mitigation measures.
In a lengthy Facebook post yesterday, Muhyiddin explained that the implementation of the RMCO was discussed at that morning’s National Security Council Special Meeting on Covid-19.
With many green zones turning into red zones, as well as the need to reinstate the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in several areas, he said that it seems that the pandemic situation hasn’t shown much improvement.

I think there is a need for this RMCO to be re-examined for areas that are facing the recurrence of Covid-19 infections, especially in states such as Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and Perak.

Growing Covid-19 concerns among MPs in Parliament
As Parliament faced Covid-19 scares earlier this week involving staff at the Parliament building, Muhyiddin acknowledged the concerns of members of parliament (MPs) with the building also in a red zone.
A media staffer and an aide to a senator were found Covid-19 positive during tests conducted in Parliament last week before Dewan Rakyat reconvened for a new session.
I believe the Dewan Rakyat Speaker will use his wisdom to manage this matter.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun has since announced a new set of SOPs for Parliamentarians at this morning’s session.
The new measures include advising MPs to avoid crowded places and events, as well as to undergo Covid-19 swab tests every two weeks while Parliament is in session.
