Malaysia records 1,228 new Covid-19 cases today, the nation’s highest ever.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah revealed the staggering amount at the daily Covid-19 press conference today, bringing the nation’s total of active case cases to 8,966.
About 41% of the new cases (502 cases) recorded today are from several prison clusters including Kepayang Prison Cluster, Seberang Prai Prison Cluster, Reman Prison Cluster and Tembok Prison Cluster.
Dr Noor Hisham assured that the prison clusters and infections are isolated.
Meanwhile, 889 of the new cases are in Sabah with 434 from Kepayang Prison Cluster.
The Health DG also revealed that 7 deaths and 671 recoveries were recorded today.
Previously, the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in Malaysia was on 18 October at 871.
