The legend of the yellow Volkswagen Beetle on the Karak Highway is probably one of the scariest Malaysian ghost tales out there, guaranteed to send chills down your spine every time.

So would you like to scare yourself witless with the Karak Highway experience, without actually going on the highway? Because there’s a new haunted experience that does just that.

Icebox Karak Haunted Highway, is a “haunted car” ride through the infamous highway, but in Kuala Lumpur thanks to Livescape Group, Hitman Solutions and Pepsi.

How it works

Organiser Livescape Group calls it the “nation’s first all immersive drive-in” with Covid-19 concerns in mind.

According to Malay Mail the word “Icebox” itself is an acronym for ‘In-Car Experience’ whereby visitors will be safely inside a car while the hauntings take place around the vehicle.

The organisers explain that it was designed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) by the Health Ministry and National Security Council (MKN).

The Icebox Karak Haunted Highway has six spooky scenes that go on for a total of 20 minutes.

There’s a bit of a drive-in cinema feel, a bit of theatrical and a bit of television and drama in it, there’s also a bit of prop and set building. You’ll feel that you’re winding your way along the highway and we’re going to engage with you at six different points along the journey.

Darren Waide, Creative Director of Livescape Group to Malay Mail.

So if you need to get scared by something other than the harsh realities of life, you can sign up for the Icebox Karak Haunted Highway from 11 – 22 November at The MarqE at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). Check out their website for more information (HERE).

“Drive” safe!
