Petaling Jaya, with its many shopping malls and dense population, is loathe to see an outbreak of Covid-19 cases as it could mean bad news for everyone.
However, news of new cases within the Petaling Jaya has surfaced, so do take note:
1 Utama (14 October)
[Update: the number of cases at 1 Utama has reportedly increased to 105 cases. See the full story here.]
The mall clarified today that while other reports state that there have been 63 new Covid-19 cases, this is misleading information.
After their mass swab test for 6,000 mall and tenant staff, there has been 21 positive cases. These cases have been quarantined by KKM.
The remaining 44 positive cases are security guard workers who were outsourced from a third party service provider. The cases were spread within the workers’ dormitory and not from the mall itself.
The guards are currently no longer stationed at the 1 Utama mall.
Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara (14 October)
An intern attached to Tesco Extra Mutiara Damansara has tested positive for Covid-19.
The store was closed overnight for deep-cleaning and sanitation. It is now re-opened for shoppers.
Tropicana Golf & Country Resort (12 October)
The Tropicana Golf & Country Resort saw an outbreak of 23 individuals. 15 of the positive cases were employees and the rest were family members, spread primarily within the workers’ hostels.
The index cases were an employee and a family member who had travelled to Sabah.
The resort is now closed while all affected individuals are under quarantine. The workers’ hostels are also undergoing disinfection and sanitation.
