19 personnel from Cheras district police headquarters tested positive for Covid-19, according to reports.

Although they were tested positive, KL Police Chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the police station will be operating as usual.

Although the 19 personnel have tested positive for Covid-19, the police station and IPD Cheras will operate as usual by abiding by standard operating procedures (SOPs) that the government has put in place to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

They are classified under the “Baiduri Cluster” – after the index case was an individual who tested positive during a pre-operation screening on 7 October.

Currently the officer is being admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

Saiful said other members are still waiting for their results from the District Health Officer.

This isn’t the first time that law enforcement has been affected by the coronavirus as PJ Police Chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal has to undergo a 14-day quarantine after coming into contact with a Covid-19-positive individual.
