Obey quarantine orders and other prevention methods to curb the spread of Covid-19, said Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali.

In a Facebook post, Khairuddin said that the pandemic should not be politicised as the rakyat is being negatively affected by it.

Covid-19 is not a cheap political item. It’s a disaster that needs to be addressed by all. Congratulations to the frontliners who’ve worked hard to deal with the situation. Comply with social distancing SOPs and wear a face mask. Quarantine orders either at home or at the center as directed by the MOH must be complied by all. Pray that this pandemic will end soon. Pray that those who are positive will be healed immediately. Help friends and neighbors affected economically by covid-19.

Khairuddin made headlines recently for allegedly violating his own quarantine order after visiting Turkey in July.

He was fined RM1,000 for the offense and investigations are still on-going.

It’s reported that according to the National Security Council’s SOP, returnees are required to be tested on arrival.

Those with negative results must then serve out their 14-day quarantine while those testing positive are sent to a hospital for further treatment.

Breaching this order is punishable under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 which means jail time of two years, a fine, or both upon conviction.
