The Covid-19 pandemic has severely disrupted lessons for students across the globe, including Malaysia. Soon after the movement control order was implemented, most academic institutions were encouraged to move lessons entirely online.
However, students from the B40 income group cannot participate in their classes as they are unable to afford a laptop. The situation is even more dire in families who have more than one child in school.
This is why the office of ADUN Bukit Gasing, with the support of StandUp Malaysia, has launched #Laptop4Siswa, a campaign that is aimed to collect and distribute laptops for underprivileged university students.
We are calling out to the generous people out there to donate a laptop, either brand new or used, to these students. We also encourage cash donations which can be used to restore some of these laptops if need be.Bukit Gasing ADUN Rajiv Rishyakaran via Malay Mail
Interested donors may contact the office of ADUN Bukit Gasing (03-79547490 / firstname.lastname@example.org) or StandUp Malaysia (014 -669 1320 / email@example.com) for enquiries on how and where to deliver their donations. Alternatively, they can also sign up online here.
For students with financial problems who need laptops, registrations to take part in the #Laptop4Siswa has already opened and will close on 20 October. All Malaysian students with a valid student identification card and/or a offer letter from your university can apply online here.
Do bear in mind that you’ll need to provide details in your application for verification purposes, such as your background, household income, and a copy of your parent’s payslip.
If your application is approved, the laptop will reportedly be delivered to you by post and a tracking number will be provided for verification.
