Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be making a special announcement on Malaysia’s Covid-19 situation at 6pm today.
He is expected to speak from his home, where he is currently undergoing a 14-day home quarantine after attending a meeting with a minister who later tested positive for Covid-19.
While the details of the announcement are not known, the public has been speculating extensively for a week about the possibility of a second lockdown or Movement Control Order (MCO) following the recent surge in Covid-19 cases shortly after the Sabah state elections.

In the first week of October alone, Malaysia broke it’s record for new cases three times since the pandemic began.
Yesterday (5 October), 432 new cases were reported – Malaysia’s biggest daily increase Covid-19 cases ever with almost every state recording a new case.
