The Sungai Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants have halted works following yet another incident of raw water pollution, this time at Sungai Semenyih.

In a statement tonight, Air Selangor Corporate Communication Head Elina Baseri says this will result in unscheduled disruption of water supply to 273 locations, affecting 309,605 consumer accounts.

The four districts affected are Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang.

“Air Selangor has reported the incident to the Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) and steps to identify the source of raw water pollution along Sungai Semenyih and its tributaries around Sungai Semenyih are in full swing,” read the statement.

Furthermore, Air Selangor have activated their Emergency Response Plan (ERP) to intensify assistance to consumers affected by this incident.

“At this time we have not been able to anticipate the period of plant re-operation and supply restoration. Air Selangor will inform of developments related to this incident from time to time through all mediums, especially the mass media,” wrote Elina.
