KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital has set up their own drive-through Covid-19 test site to help the community in Kota Kinabalu get themselves screened for the infection in a safe manner.

Based on a report by The Borneo Post, the hospital is the first to initiate such a programme in the country, and have so far screened 200 individuals since it started operating yesterday.

According to the hospital’s management, the programme is their proactive approach in dealing with the spread of the virus there, following the recent rise of positive cases in the state.

As a caring provider, this proactive initiative aims to minimize contact with others and make it convenient for the community to get tested.

According to KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital chief executive officer Miranda Harumal, the drive-through Covid-19 test programme has been working non-stop since it was launched.

If you’re in Kota Kinabalu and interested in getting yourself screened, you must first make an appointment online via scanning of a QR code. Once payment is made, the hospital will inform you of your appointment date via WhatsApp.

Testing is conducted on Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday, from 9am to 1pm.

The standard test used is the RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) test, and results can be known after three to five working days.

Quicker tests are also available, but these can only be used upon a doctor’s recommendation.

KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital assures the public that our hospital has always practised strict SOPs in safeguarding the health and safety of all our stakeholders, patients and staff.
