Sarawak is taking action by banning all Malaysians and non-citizens in Sabah and Labuan from entering the state within the span of two weeks from 4 October until 18 October.

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the move is a response to the increase in Covid-19 cases in every day outside Sarawak.

Neighboring countries, Brunei have also tightened the entry of foreign nationals from their land border control posts, therefore JPBN has devised a strategy to protect the state from continuing to accept import cases from outside Sarawak.

As for Sarawakians who are in Sabah and Labuan, Unggah said they are allowed return, but will need to apply through the EnterSarawak application and fill out the e-Health Declaration Form.

They will be quarantined at the quarantine center for 14 days and taken RT-PCR COVID-19 test on the second and 10th day. Quarantine cost and RT-PCR COVID-19 test will be borne by the Sarawak state government.

For the oil and gas sector, existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) are still adopted, while sectors categorized as essential services including delivery services using the road across the Malaysia-Brunei border, will need to receive a special letter from the relevant Disaster Management Committee.

They will also be required to take the RT-PCR COVID-19 test.

For those who need to go through Brunei as well, they need to comply with all the latest instructions issued by the country’s government.

Regarding admission to Sarawak from the Peninsula, Unggah said all Malaysian citizens and non-citizens must apply through the EnterSarawak application and fill out the e-Health Declaration Form.

They will also need to be quarantined for 14 days and wear a bracelet. Tests will be taken on the second and 10th day.

Costs for quarantine and the Covid-19 test will be borne by themselves, Unggah said.
