Malaysians can renew their motorcycle licenses online, announced the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

In a statement, JPJ explains that the online license renewal can be done via the MyEG system for motorcycle riding licence (LKM) and competent driving licence (CDL) beginning Oct 9 and Oct 16 respectively.

MyEG states that these new services will complement other existing JPJ-related services on their platform which includes summons inquiry and payment, road tax renewal, transfer of vehicle ownership as well as computerised driver’s theory testing.

Besides the ease of renewing motorcycle road tax and CDL online, with the launch of the new services, users will also be able to access an array of related value-added offerings available on MyEG’s portal for their added convenience and peace of mind, such as online motorcycle insurance renewal as well as motorcycle road tax and CDL delivery services.

As the concessionaire for the Malaysian E-Government Services flagship application since 2000, MYEG has been JPJ’s Service Provider for multiple online services since 2007.

JPJ explains that this initiative stemmed from the disruption of multiple services when the department’s service counters were closed during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

This new online move is a government initiative to digitize existing services to the public in line with the practice of new norms.
