Health Ministry Expects Spike In Covid-19 Cases In Next 2-3 Months

The Health Ministry is expecting a spike of Covid-19 cases in the next two to three months.
According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the spike is due to the tendency of people getting infected with flu and cold illnesses during winter seasons.
He said the spike of Covid-19 cases during winter is a common concern shared by the Malaysian Health Ministry, the World Health Organisation (WHO) and countries in the European Union.
They are expecting the number of cases to increase sharply, especially during the winter season, where there could be an increase in cases of the common flu or common cold.

If both flu and Covid-19 infections are seen together during the winter seasons this year, Dr Noor Hisham said that there could be a higher impact on the health of patients.
He pointed out that other countries have already shown spikes in the number of Covid-19 cases even before the winter seasons hit. This was seen in India, while the United Kingdom expected to record up to 50,000 new cases in 24 hours.
Yesterday, Malaysia crossed the 1,000th mark for active Covid-19 cases, as its three-digit streak of daily new cases continued with another 115 reported.
