Sabah is just two days away from the upcoming elections. As we get closer to the date, more and more Covid-19 cases seem to be popping up.

Yesterday, another Covid-19 cluster was discovered in Tawau, bringing the total number of active clusters in Sabah to eight. The latest one has been named the Udin cluster.

According to Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the Udin cluster’s index patient is a 72-year-old woman who tested positive on 12 September during a routine screening for senior citizens at the Merotai health clinic.

Both positive cases found through contact tracing involve Filipinos. While both are asymptomatic, they have been admitted to the Tawau hospital for treatment.

Since then, a total of 128 people in this cluster have been screened. Out of the total, three tested positive, 71 individuals tested negative, and the remaining 54 individuals are still awaiting their test results.

For Malaysians interested in travelling to and from Sabah, at the time of writing, there are no travel restrictions in place. Though, travellers will be required to fill in a mandatory health declaration form before entering the East Malaysian state.

If you were planning on climbing Mount Kinabalu, the park recently announced that they will be closing their doors for two weeks until 8 October 2020.

Meanwhile, those travelling from Sabah to other parts of Malaysia will not have to undergo a mandatory quarantine. Though you will have to do a swab test upon arrival if you have any Covid-19 symptoms.
