Sarawak can now proudly claim another Miss Universe Malaysia as Francisca Luhong James was crowned this year’s Miss Universe Malaysia.
The 25-year-old is of mixed parentage, with a Kayan father and Iban mother. She comes from a culturally rich background where family and communal interests take priority.
She cites her idols as celebrity and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey and former First Lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, noting that she would love to meet them.

She is currently working in the public relations and marketing field in Kuala Lumpur, though her vision is actually to help improve the lives and socio-economic standing of those in rural areas, extending her support for the Sarawak government’s digital economy initiatives.
Her philanthropy isn’t just for show, either.

Francisca is a huge advocate for women empowerment through her movement Women Rise and in deeply involved in charity works in the rural areas of Sarawak.
