Independent bookstores in the Klang Valley put together a little real-life treasure hunt minigame for Swadaya MY’s MER[D]EKA campaign, which requires a fun weekend journey to several different locations.

There are a total of 5 participating bookstores, namely: Pelita Dhihin, Tintabudi, The Bibliophile, Gerakbudaya PJ, Nur Innai Bookshop, and Lit Books. These stores are all located within KL and Selangor, so you can start with the one closest to you!

What you need to do

First, head to any one of the participating bookshops to pick up the limited edition library art card.

Each bookstore has a criteria for you to receive the art card, such as spending a minimum of RM50 or sharing a selfie on your social media.

Secondly, visit the other bookstores on the list with your library art card to receive a stamp. You won’t have to spend anything, but take the time to browse books and catch your breath. Collect stamps from all five bookstores to complete the event!

Lastly, if you managed to collect all the stamps, you will receive a special gift once the campaign ends on 22 September. Plus, the library art card makes for a fantastic bookmark.

After all, #supportlocal also means supporting your local indie bookstores run by passionate Malaysians, and local authors, too. So why not spend a weekend bookstore-hopping as a fun alternative to cafe-hopping instead?
