Body temperature records during inspections at any business premises should not be recorded in a book or kept in digital records, according to Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

He said that the storage of visitor body temperature records is in conflict with the framework of handling procedures and storage of personal data set by the government.

Based on the guidelines, he said, only the name, telephone number, date and time of the visitor’s visit to the business premises should be recorded, either on a book or in digital storage.

Personal data is only used for contact tracking, while the visitor data storage period is only valid up to six months of Movement Control Order (MCO) and must be permanently deleted after nine months.
